Is there a leash law in Salina?
All dogs must be on a leash or in a fenced yard at all times.  Even
if the owner is outside with the dog, on their property, the dog
must be on a leash or in a fenced yard.

A cat is roaming my neighborhood; will you pick it up?
There is no leash law on cats; they must be confined for us to go
get them.  The Shelter has animal traps that can be borrowed free
of charge for use in catching cats.

My new apartment building doesn't allow pets; will you
come get my dog?
We do not pick up owned animals. Owners must bring their pet to
the Animal Shelter to release it to us.  The release fee is $2.00
per animal for Salina-Saline County residents; for non-residents
the fee is $15.00 per animal, to put them up for adoption. We can
not guarantee placement, and they may be euthanized.

What is the cost to euthanize a pet?
The euthanasia fee is $5.00 per animal for Salina-Saline County
residents; for non Salina-Saline County residents, the euthanasia
fee is $20.00 per animal ($5 euthanasia fee and $15.00 release
fee).  Owners must make an appointment for this service.

What happens if an animal gets hit by a car?
Please call the Salina Animal Shelter; our staff responds to all
calls regarding sick or injured animals within the City of Salina
and Saline County.
